May 13, 2007- The reunion has been downsized.

Rather than meeting at the Holiday Inn Airport, we will be gathering at an El Paso dining landmark. Please send in your nominations. The event will be "pay your server," and afterwards, we will retire to a rented hotel suite or favorite bar...."

The date is still set for Oct. 13.

Ken Baake might provide the entertainment, in the form of "Cheech and Chong" impressions.

Nov. 3, 2006- The El Paso Herald-Post reunion for the 10-year anniversary of its closing is tentatively scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13, 2007.

We're planning a two-day event, with an evening symposium at UTEP on Friday. We'd like to have a few speakers, maybe Ruben Salazar's wife, maybe Ken Flynn talking about the history of El Paso and the Herald-Post's role in it. Afterward, we'd like to have an informal gathering for dinner and drinks.

Saturday would be the big party day. To start off, we'd like to rent a trolley for a tour of El Paso for those interested. We'd like to get author and historian David Dorado Romo to guide the tour. That would be in the afternoon. Then dinner and dance in the evening.

In the interest of affordability and proximity to the airport, we've narrowed our choices down to Forti's Mexican Elder restaurant (Deb and Julie haven't been there in years, so someone please tell us if it's not a viable option) and the ballroom at the Holiday Inn Airport (food's good, it's very affordable and we probably can get a deal on rooms. PLUS Teddy's has the BEST piņa coladas!). Of course, we're always open to suggestions.

I'd like to point out that in order to pull this off, we're going to need EVERYONE'S help. It seems all of us really want to make this happen, so sale y vale!
